A lotion bar is a great alternative to a liquid water-based body lotion. They contain oil and are solid which makes them great for the whole family to use. They are also very cost effective since they melt on contact with your skin, therefore less of the bar is used.

It contains Beeswax, which is waterproof, so it seals in the moisture of your skin. Apply the bar after a shower when your skin is moist and soft. The wax coating of the bar will trap the moisture, letting it nourish your skin. The waterproof qualities also mean that the lotion won’t wash off. One application will survive multiple hand washings, or even immersion. It will last several hours.

Compared to regular lotion, lotion bars are far more convenient.
They typically have a longer shelf life (since these recipes don’t call for water), and are easier to use on the go and on hard to get areas.

Shea butter contains a substance that can reduce skin swelling, therefore may help treat conditions such as eczema

Shea Butter Lotion Bar

Ingredients

Required

32 g Cosmosil DS Dry Skin Repair Oil
32 g Shea Butter
25 g Beeswax
Few drops of your favorite essential oil

Instructions

1. Place the ingredients in a glass bowl and heat them until they are melted. Stir and pour into silicone molds.

2. Let it cool and harden – this takes several hours – or up to overnight.

3. Take them out of the molds – and now there are ready for use.

Massage the lotion bar directly on dry skin areas, and your body heat will soften the bar – and release the nourishing Cosmosil DS and the rich and creamy shea butter. Simply rub on elbows, knees, heels, hands or anywhere else where your skin feels dry.
Store the lotion bars in a cool dry place, since they melt slightly in high temperatures. Since The lotion bar does not contain water, they are extremely long lasting.

Shea Butter: is rich and creamy and naturally rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A, E and F. It has anti-inflammatory properties that soothes the skin and strengthens it from within. Extremely suitable for softening your skin and regenerate the skin.

Beeswax adds a protective barrier to skin that locks in moisture and helps keep the bar firm.

Because there is no water in this formula, it is shelf stable for up to a year without the use of preservatives. Store out of direct sunlight and away from heat – it will melt!
